INHOUSE FINISHING AND CONVERTING PROCESSES

COATING & LAMINATING

  • Coating and laminating processes significantly expand the functional capabilities of textiles while potentially increasing profit margins when applied to lower-cost fabrics.

  • Various polymer formulations including PVC, PU, acrylic, and PTFE are commonly used in coating applications to create multipurpose protective textiles for waterproof clothing, tarpaulins, and electrical insulation.

  • Laminated textiles, which combine fabrics with other materials like fibers, laminates, foils, and non-wovens, are particularly valuable for high-performance applications requiring both waterproof properties and breathability.

EMBOSSING

  • Embossing is the process whereby a new dimension is added to any surface, which can be pressed upon.

  • This new raised dimension could be a variety of options including a design, pattern, lettering, logo or seal added to the surface of fabrics.

CHEMICAL

FINISHING

  • Chemical treatments are applied to cotton and polycotton fabrics to produce low flammability, crease resist, acid and other special effects.

  • The treatment shields the fabric from various environmental factors, such as stains, discolouration, damage from soiling, and it can also be used to make the fabric softer, easier to clean and improve water repellent properties.

TRANSFER

PRINTING

  • Textiles printing is the process of applying colour to fabric in definite patterns or designs.

  • The purpose of textile printing is to produce high-quality, vibrant prints that can be used for a variety of purposes, such as clothing, home decor and promotional products.

EMBROIDERY

  • Embroidery is a process whereby a sewing machine or embroidery machine is used to create a loopy pattern on the hem of a sheer fabric.

  • Embroidery is mainly used to bring a decorative art form to a fabric-baed article and enhances the article with a stitched embellishment.

  • The name Cornely has been registered by Loomcraft and is a registered trademark in South Africa with its well-know and popular pattern on curtains in households across the country.
